2016! I can’t believe it’s actually 2016! How did I get here? How did WE get here? But, yes, here ’s to 2016, a new year with 366 (leap year!) days to celebrate. And that means 52 weeks of wonders, worries, wisdom, work, wild, wacky, weird and “wow worthy” moments just waiting to be experienced. Hence the theme of this post.
I’m challenging myself to find time to creatively express the gift of each new day. I will try to sit down and just be grateful. Then get to work thinking, painting, lettering, drawing, scribbling and push myself a little more. Some weeks I may post more than one image, depending on my energy level. Some weeks may have an image for every day. The point is that every week there will be something.
This week’s post says,
“Today is a window. Open it. Let the fresh air in and breathe in hope and be ready for anything. This is the beginning of something wonderful.”
I thought of this piece in response to how freakishly mild this winter in New England has been. Thanks to global warming, being able to open a window in January is an amazing thing. No hay fever to sneeze at. No biting wind to rip through all my layers of wool, fleece and cotton. Just fresh air filling my lungs. Unfortunately I’ve been suffering from my post holiday malaise and my lungs are also full of funk, so a brief breath was all I got. And then winter returned. Cold, icy winter, but welcome nonetheless.
So please enjoy every new gift that comes as the sun rises. Open that window, or just look out and admire the wonder of a new day. I promise I will be doing the same.
Until next week,
